Scholarship Update: 2026 Oliver Hamilton Memorial Endowed Electronics Award Recipient

The Tent of Oliver Foundation is pleased to congratulate Baron Geoff Castillo, recipient of the 2026 Oliver Hamilton Memorial Endowed Electronics Award at Seneca Polytechnic. The award recognizes a student demonstrating dedication, academic achievement, and a strong commitment to pursuing a career in the electronics field.

Currently enrolled in the Electronics Engineering Technician program, Baron Geoff Castillo has distinguished himself through his passion for electronics, innovation, and hands-on learning. His studies have focused on areas such as hardware-software integration, microcontroller concepts, and computer-aided design, while personal projects involving 3D modeling, home automation systems, and synchronized LED displays demonstrate his enthusiasm for applying technology to real-world challenges.

Prior to coming to Canada, Baron Geoff Castillo earned a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering in the Philippines. He has since pursued electronics engineering with the goal of expanding his expertise, continuing his education, and building a career in the engineering profession.

In his letter of appreciation, Baron Geoff Castillo expressed gratitude for the support provided by the award, noting that the recognition motivates him to continue striving for excellence while pursuing his educational and professional goals.

Starting in the 2024/2025 school year, $1,000 will be awarded annually in perpetuity to a student in the Electronics Engineering Technician program who has a minimum GPA of 3.0. The recipient is an international student in need of financial support and has overcome challenges in the pursuit of their education. The recipient is also a team player, hardworking and a problem solver.

This award honours Oliver Hamilton who is remembered for his lifelong passion and expertise in the field of electronics, and his strong advocacy for education and empowerment for the next generation.
